The Artist
I
received my first easel at the age of 5 and have been drawing and
painting ever since. As the right side of my brain learned to view the
world through color, line, and form, the left side of my brain was busy
at work analyzing facts and figures. For the first 5 years of my
professional life, the left side of my brain won out; I became a CPA
and was a practicing financial analyst. In 1999 I migrated west to San
Francisco and it’s been a right-brain lifestyle for me ever since.
In San Francisco I was surrounded by natural beauty, artistic energy,
and creative expression unlike anything I had experienced before. The
city inspired me to follow my passion for art so I quit my job, applied
to art school, and made a commitment to re-create myself as a
professional artist.
Designs by Alyse is the realization of my dream to combine my love for art with a full-time business. My design aesthetic has always had a childlike whimsy and a touch of the surreal so I decided to focus on creating imaginative daydreams and fantastical scenes for children’s bedrooms. My goal with this endeavor is to touch the imagination of a child and inspire them to view the world around them differently- but if my work can just make them smile once in a while and help them have sweet dreams, I’m feeling pretty good about that too.
